That’s a short question with a long answer. It’s a “what does a car cost?” type question. There are a ton of variables.

It depends partly on your online needs and of course your budget.

If you’re a small business owner with a minimal budget we’ll work with you.  We can get you online with a small, functional website that you can expand later with more pages and features as your budget allows. 

If you choose a template for a larger site, into which we put your content, then the cost will be lower than if we start from scratch with a custom build.

If you stay with us for one of our Website Care Plans then we also give you a price break.

Websites can cost into the thousands as there’s a lot of work on the backend but if you can’t afford that we’ll work with you.  Don’t be deterred by the potential cost.

Since there’s no one-size-fits-all website there’s no one price either. So get in touch and we’ll figure it out together.

It’s times to start designing. You’ll send over your logo, your images and written materials which are needed before we start. You’ll put down a 50% deposit to begin the work on your new site unless we make a different arrangement. You’ll get a first draft and we’ll go from there building and tweaking.

A Website Care Plan is a highly recommended monthly deal you sign up for which allows many things to be taken care of so you don’t have to worry about the digital health of your site.

We have a few different levels of Website Care Plans. They start at $45/mo. for the basic plan with no bells and whistles. Once we know what your website is going to be doing then we can recommend which plan you sign up for – there are several variables such as whether you have a blog or newsletter, if you post updated hours, menu changes etc. All these things help in choosing the cost.

The first and most important aspect of any plan is for the security of your site. There are three levels of updates sites need on an ongoing basis included in all plans:

1. The CMS (the brick and mortar of your site)
2. The theme (the general look and feel of the design)
3. The Plugins (much of the functionality)

All three of these levels must be kept up-to-date to help keep hackers from entering your site via out-of-date software.

All plans also include multiple ongoing backups on different servers.

The Mid Level Website Care Plan plan adds updates to the actual content of your site. Things like image additions or swaps, minor text changes (menu price changes, is an example of common text changes) or announcement banners are included.

You’ll also get periodic free tip sheets showing you things you can do on your own to help attract customers.

The Top Level Website Care Plan includes all the above plus one hour per month of brainstorming about your website and business marketing ideas.

When you’re on a monthly plan we help you when things break and do all we can to find the problem and fix it. If this runs into multiple hours of work we’ll charge a fee based on the issue. 

If you’re on a plan with us, hosting with us can be added to any monthly plan for a minimal fee, depending on the size and type of site we build for you. More about that when we chat.

Your site will have an industry standard security plugin installed from day 1 of the build. This plugin is installed at the free level and blocks brute attacks (password and user name cracking attempts). 

You can upgrade to the paid version of the security plugin and also purchase premium hosting all of which will increase your security levels if you feel you need it and have the budget.

Several other precautions are taken for every site and these measures are all included in any level care plan.

If you’re on a Website Care Plan your site will also be backed up in three separate locations and in the event of a hack there will most likely be a clean copy of the most recent site version.

If your site does get hacked (not impossible but unlikely if all security precautions we recommend are followed) and you need it cleaned I’ll refer you to a company that charges $200 as a one time fee which also includes their premium level plugin for one year.

Search Engine Optimization – or SEO – is the process by which your website is built and cared for so as to be viewed with favor by the search engines. Google, king of the hill, has over 200 ranking criteria to help with your SEO.

Your site will be created with multiple SEO criteria built into it from the beginning. Things such as optimizing and naming your images, certain design and layout aspects such as ease-of-use for visitors, hierarchy within your site, and clear CTA (Call-To-Action) modules, as well as mobile friendly design will be followed during the build, all helping  improve your site’s  SEO.

We also do basic keywords for your site included in the build with a free SEO plugin. We’ll ask for suggestions from you here too.
